We offer programs to develop proficiency in the four areas of language performance:

Literacy Program
Literacy program prepares the participants to read and write in the target language.
Eligibility – knowledge of English reading.
Minimum Age – 5 and above
Class Formats Supported
Group classes : very interactive online classes in small groups of 5 to 6 participants with our Gurus. Participants are placed in classes that match their age group.
One of One Classes: personalized instruction in a one on one online session with our Gurus. One on one classes follow the same structured Gurukul curriculum as group classes but the pace of the class is personalized to the unique needs of the participant.
In person group classes
Those located in and around the vicinity of the Chicago region may join our in person group classes held in a classroom setting. We offer a fun learning environment with games and activities to engage our participants. In person classes are currently available only for 5 to 16 year old students.
Note: In person program is currently suspended use to COVID-19 pandemic related social distancing restrictions.
Curriculum-
Our curriculum is structured into three distinct levels, novice, intermediate and advanced. These levels mostly align to the ACTFL proficiency levels while taking into account the unique needs of our participants. Each level comprises 3 stages of development: initiated, blooming and accomplished.
Novice Scholar
Learn to read and write Hindi alphabet and basic two syllable word formation.

Read and write simple words and short sentences related to people and objects commonly seen.
Comprehend short passages with visual aid. Write short passages about objects commonly seen.
Intermediate Scholar
Fluently read and comprehend short passages that use high frequency words with compound sounds. Appropriate use of gender in sentences.
Fluently read and comprehend short passages that use high frequency words with compound sounds. Infer meaning in other unfamiliar situations using familiar words practiced before. Appropriate use of tense and gender in sentences.
Fluently comprehend short passages with some unknown and many high frequency words with compound sounds. Be able to often infer meaning in other unfamiliar situations using familiar words practiced before.
Conversation Program
Conversation program prepares the participants to listen and speak in the target language.
Eligibility – English reading and conversation skills.
Minimum Age – 5 and above

Talk about yourself and your environment with some details in short sentences with pauses and repetition.
Discuss about yourself and your interactions, likes/dislikes towards your immediate environment in short complete sentences.
Intermediate Speaker
Fluently talk about myself and my interactions, likes/dislikes towards my immediate environment in complete sentences in response to simple questions as well as ask those questions.

Ask and answer questions about myself and my interactions, likes/dislikes towards my immediate environment with a somewhat detailed account of events, people and things around me, mostly using appropriate tenses and singular/plural numbers.
